Grimes, A. V., age 87, of Bessemer, AL, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2008. He was a member of Rock Mountain Lake Church of God. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Funeral Services will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with burial in Valhalla Cemetery. Rev. Michael Smith officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, December 8, 2008 from 5:30 until 8:00 p.m. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Grimes; son, Charles (Carolyn) Grimes; daughter, Barbara Jean (Daniel) Thomas; grandchildren, Chris Hemstreet, Scott Tracy, Brian Parker, Jonathan Parker, Jeff Thomas, James Grimes, David Grimes, Debbie Grimes and Lisa Thomas; numerous great grandchildren; sister, Wynonia Odom.
