Obituary

Ailene Geneva Adams Nolan, a ge 98, of Montgomery, AL, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025. She was born in Blount County, AL, on February 2, 1927, to Grace Elizabeth and Pickney Taylor Adams. Mrs. Nolan lived in Birmingham, AL, and Panama City Beach, FL, before recently becoming a resident of The Crossings at Eastchase and Crowne Health and Rehabilitation in Montgomery. She worked as a cosmetologist until her retirement and remained an active member of her community. A devoted member of The Order of Eastern Star, she also served as past Queen of the Agapa Temple of the Daughters of the Nile. She was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Nolan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John W. Nolan; her sister, Ora Lovelady; her brother, Robert Adams, her son, Joseph T. Miller, Jr. and grandson, Keith Freeman. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Steve) Freeman; son, Robert (Laura) Miller; daughter-in-law, Molly Miller; grandchildren, Thomas (Jennifer) Freeman, Timothy Freeman, Sherree (Alan) Trammell, Rebecca (Ty) Buckalew, and Joseph (Jennifer) Miller; as well as 16 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Known for her generous spirit, Mrs. Nolan enjoyed volunteering and crafting beautiful beaded bracelets, which she would donate to local nursing homes. She was admired for her kind heart and the love she gave to all who knew her. She will be laid to rest in a graveside service at Valhalla Cemetery in Midfield, AL. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff and caregivers at Crowne Health and Southern Care New Beacon Hospice for their compassionate care.

Celebration of Life will be Thursday, November 20, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Valhalla Cemetery-Graveside. The family is asking everyone to gather from 10:30 a.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home, 5317 Bessemer Super Hwy, Midfield, AL 35228.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities or the Shriners Hospital for Children.
