Ms. Alice Jeanette Priestley Arnett passed away on November 11, 2024. She was born on July 31, 1935, in Birmingham, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents John Anthony Priestley and Clara Capley Priestley and her brother John Anthony Priestley Jr. and his wife Sarah Jane Priestley. Ms. Arnett graduated from Ensley High School, Auburn University (when it was still called Alabama Polytechnic Institute) and received her Master of Education from UAB. Ms. Arnett taught mainly first grade for 28 years. She lovingly raised and took care of her two daughters and then her parents in their later years. She enjoyed watching and feeding the birds and gardening.

Ms. Arnett served her Lord and savior as a faithful member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church for over fifty-five years. She served and participated in WMU activities as well as lovingly sending cards to her Sunday School members.

Ms. Arnett is survived by her daughters Denise Fleming (Jim), Vicky Findley, (Terry), her grandchildren Mark Fleming, (Leah), Luke Fleming (Whitney), Elizabeth Findley (Megan), Anthony Findley, and Alisa Fleming (Heath). She is survived by her great-grandson, Zander Fleming and her great-granddaughter Andie Fleming. She is also survived by her niece, Karen Morris (David) and her nephew, Mike Priestley (Paige) and their children.

The family is grateful for the care that Ms. Arnett received from Compassus Hospice Care. The family is also grateful for the assistance and care Ms. Arnett received from caregivers, Linda Bauder, Ellen Thompson, Keysha Jackson, and McKenzie Matuszak. The family also wishes to thank so many friends and church members who prayed for Ms. Arnett, brought food and flowers, and visited her.

Visitation will be held at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church on Friday, November 15, 2024, from 9:30 am until 10:30 am. A Celebration of life service will follow at 10:30. Dr. Chris Jones will be officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later time at Valhalla Cemetery in Midfield, Alabama.
