Annie Lois Maddox Siderits of Montevallo, Alabama died on July 26, 2014, at the age of 79. She was born on August 30, 1934 in Prattville, Alabama.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Darlene Culp Maddox and Johnson Moses "Shorty" Maddox and her younger brother Pete Maddox.
Lois is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Edward "Tommy" Siderits; her daughter Betty Bradford (John) of Trussville, Alabama; her sons, Randal (Sandra) of Lynchburg, Virginia; and Rick (Brenda) of Fayetteville, Georgia.
"Branny" is survived by her eight grandchildren: Dan (Lisa) Bradford of Palo Alto, California; Mandy (James) Underwood of Trussville, Alabama; Jonathan (Laura) Walton of Sharpsburg, Georgia; Derek (Katie) Walton of Marietta, Georgia; Parrish (Katie) Walton of Fayetteville, Georgia; David (Shelley) Walton of West Melbourne, Florida; Brad (Wei Lin) Morris of Chamblee, Georgia; and Ashley (Jonathan) Barrett of Fayetteville, Georgia. Additionally she is survived by her eleven great grandchildren; Ethan and Avery Underwood, Ella and Jack Bradford, McKinley and Pierce Walton, Ella Walton, Benji Walton, Lucy and Walker Barrett and Jesse Morris. Branny's grandchildren will serve as her pall barriers.
Lois is also survived by three brothers, James (Brenda) Maddox of Moody, Alabama; Sonny (Ann) Maddox of Pace, Alabama and Naylor (Carolyn) Battle of McCalla, Alabama along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Throughout her career as a dental hygienist Lois befriended and cared for her many patients with compassion and skill. Lois loved her family, enjoyed the outdoors, was a great cook and had a soft spot for animals in need of care.
Like many of her generation, Lois had a strong spirit that helped her survive and live through some difficult times. That same spirit helped her to lean into the future even in the face of illness.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Arlington Health and Rehab and New Beacon Hospice for their care of Lois at the end of her life.
Visitation will be held at Valhalla Chapel, in Midfield, on Tuesday, July 29th from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. A Service to remember Lois and to celebrate her life will be held at Valhalla Chapel on July 30th at 10:00 AM with James Maddox officiating. Burial will follow at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Al.
