Carlton, Arnold D. , 88 years old, passed away January 15, 2010 at UAB Medical Weest in Bessemer. He was a WWII veteran serving in the U. S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Frances Heflin and Matthew Carlton; his wife, Verda S. Carlton; his daughter, Kathryn Winslett; his brothers, Hollis Carlton and Ober Carlton and his sisters, Thelma Jennings and Gladys Johnson. He is survived by his sons, Darrell (Gail) Carlton and Mike Carlton both of Bessemer; his daughter, Anne (James) Murphy of Centreville; six grandchildren, several great grandchildren; his very special friend, Josephine Walker; his sister, Mary Henson of Carrollton, GA and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Graveside Services will be held at Valhalla Cemetery Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Bro. Mike Isbell officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, January 18, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home.
