Barbara Jean Short, 72 years of age, passed away on June 15, 2022, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.

Born on March 21, 1950, in Florence, Alabama, she was the daughter of William Cecil Patrick Sr and Mildred Louise Patrick. After attending Jones Valley High School in Birmingham, Alabama, Barbara Jean went on to attend Cosmetology School and later joined the workforce. Before retirement, she was a long-time employee of Golden Flake in Birmingham, AL, and Falcon Products in Belmont, Mississippi.

Barbara Jean was a member of Four Mile Baptist Church in Wilsonville, Alabama where she was baptized on November 25, 2012. In her lifetime she enjoyed horseback riding, sewing, reading, telling stories, and history of all kinds, especially her family ancestry. She will be remembered for her love of animals, strong spirit, thick skin, and the immense amount of love she had to give.

Barbara Jean is survived by her sister, Gail Burton (Hue), son, Chris Woodward (Maria), nieces, Debbie Deegan and Elizabeth Sensaboy (Chuck), granddaughter, Alex Woodward, great-nephews, Christian Spano and Turner Sensaboy, and great-niece, Juliana Spano Blackerby (Daniel), many cousins, and life-long friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, William Cecil Patrick Sr and Mildred Louise Patrick, and brother, William Cecil Patrick Jr.

The funeral service will be held on June 18, 2022, at 10:00 am at Valhalla Funeral Home in Midfield, Alabama with graveside service to follow at Valhalla Cemetery. Visitation will be held on June 18, 2022, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at Valhalla Funeral Home.
