Obituary

Friday night August 28th the Lord called Beth Davis Smith home to receive her heavenly body.  Beth was just shy of her 77th birthday. Born September 2, 1943 to Pawpaw and Nanny (James and Evelyn Davis) in Birmingham, Al. She was raised in Ensley and graduated from Ensley High school and attended the University of Alabama before living most of her adult life in Centerpoint but as most military lives happen, lived in other areas. Beth dedicated over 25 years of her life with The Surgeon Generals Office recruiting doctors for the Army. This is where she met the love of her life, Frank Smith and they blended their family now 53+ years. Beth was also a member of the Steel Magnolia's and loved all her sisters there. In 2000 Frank and Beth moved to Chelsea where they were currently residing. Strong in her faith Beth was a big supporter of her church and loved her church family very much. Family was everything to her and she lived to make her family, home and life better. Make your plan and work that plan was her model. Everything in life has its place and that's where it belongs. She was the most loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and that friend that is always there. Just being around her made you want to be a better you. Beth was greeted after leaving this earthly body, not only by her Lord and savior, but by her mother/father (Nanny and Pawpaw) and two precious children lost at birth (Brent Alan and Dwight David). She never wanted her family to do without. Especially those grand young-uns. But nooooo she never spoiled them or her #1 man with chocolate chip cookies (that she baked with love) or anything else. Through their children and loving "outlaws" they were blessed with several loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren which changed their names to be known by most everyone as Mimi/Fifi/Memaw and Grandog. Family left behind consist of Frank Smith (husband), Jimmy (Carla) Davis (brother), Bunny Ayers (sister), Cheryl (Ken)Williams (daughter), Ginga (Mike) Foley (daughter), Vicki Holmes (daughter) and Donna (Jason) Mann (outlaw daughter). Grandchildren include Stephanie (Shane) Roberson, Steven Williams, Brooke (Clark) Brown, Holly (Chris) Latham, Logan Smith, McKenzie Mann. Great-grandchildren include Stacie Roberson, Sydney Roberson, Jake Latham, Luke Latham, Levi Latham, Libby Kate Brown and Cooper Brown.

Birmingham, AL  35228 on Tuesday September 1,2020, 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Valhalla Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers family requests donations to the Alzheimer's foundation.
Her favorite passage/verse/saying she loved to read was
Remember Me by Judith Karen Bulock
Remember me when flowers bloom early in the spring
Remember me on sunny days in the fun that summer brings
Remember me in the fall as you walk through the leaves of gold
And in the winter time-remember me in the stories that are told
But most of all remember each day-right from the start
I will be forever near for I live within your heart.
