Obituary

Betty Jean Traywick, aged 80, died peacefully on March 2, 2017 after a battle with heart failure and other complications. Betty was born February 25, 1937 in Alabama, daughter of Thomas Benjamin and Eula Mae Gorum.

Betty was married to the love of her life in the early 1950's, Jasper N. Traywick, Jr., and together they had five sons. They were married for over fifty years when Jasper went to be with the Lord in 2005.

Betty's children and their families were her passion and delight. She loved her brothers and sisters and their families. Family reunions and being with extended family were always so much fun for her.

Betty was a charter member of Main Street Baptist Church, Brighton, AL and New Faith Baptist Church in Pleasant Grove, AL. Betty was a daily caregiver for numerous family members with disabilities, she was a precious servant to all who knew her. Betty enjoyed bird watching, flower and vegetable gardening, dog breeding, and jigsaw puzzles.

Betty is survived by her sister Sudie Hudson; son's Joseph K. Traywick, John T. Traywick, Jasper Joel Traywick (Angie), and Joshua B. Traywick (Mandy); grandchildren Bryan Traywick, Jordan Traywick, Jana Traywick, Sophia Traywick, Gabby Traywick, Ryan Traywick, and Madilynne Traywick; and numerous loving relatives and friends.

Services will be held on Monday March 6th, 2017 at 12 noon at Valhalla Funeral Home.
Visitation will take place at the funeral home at 10 am on Monday March 6th, 2017. Internment will follow at Valhalla Cemetery.
