IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Betty Pearl
Walker
September 17, 1937 – December 13, 2025
Betty Pearl Johnson Walker, age 88, of Hueytown, Alabama, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2025. Born in Tupelo, Mississippi, on September 17, 1937, Betty was a woman defined by her devotion to her family and her generous spirit.
Betty was a legendary cook who expressed her love through food. She delighted in hosting family dinners and was known for preparing a feast large enough to feed an army whenever she knew a guest was coming. Beyond her kitchen, she enjoyed the excitement of traveling with her husband and testing her luck at the slot machines.
A dedicated worker, Betty spent years at Sokol Clothing at Western Hills Mall and later at Baptist Medical Center Princeton. She eventually retired to focus on what mattered most to her: caring for her husband in his later years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Naomi Hall Lucas and Ira Johnson; her husband of 52 years, Melvin Walker, Sr.; her brother, Johnny Johnson; and her daughter-in-law, Kathy Walker.
She leaves behind a rich legacy through her three sons: Melvin Jr. (Cindy) Walker, Tommy (Lisa) Walker, and Randy Walker. She was the cherished "Maw-Maw" to her grandchildren: Jared (Vicki) Walker, Brad (Dami) Walker, Kirk (Sabrina) Walker, Brett (Kimberly) Walker, Leah (Drew) Jackson, and Daniel (Autumn) Walker. Her light lives on in her great-grandchildren: Serena (Alex) , Aiden (JoJo), Emma, Lauren, Brayden, Julia, Wyatt, Jacob, Blair, and Elias. She is also survived by her brother, Ronny (Sue) Johnson; sister-in-law, Betty Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss her dearly. Her faithful furry companion, Sweet Pea, will also miss her very much.
