Billy Herschel Murdoch, age 87, of Remlap, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 in Birmingham.

Billy was born in DeKalb County, Alabama to John S. and Beryl E. Murdoch on January 9, 1931. He went to school in Birmingham attending Ensley High School and later attended the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He married Bobbie A. Murdoch on March 24, 1956 at Hunter Street Baptist Church. He worked for the Birmingham Water Works Board for thirty-six years before retirement. He served in the United States Marine Corp for four years during the Korean War. He was formerly a  member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church for fifty years and was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church of Pinson. He was a Mason at Mount Pinson Lodge 495 for sixty-one years, a member of the York Rite K.Y.C.H and Eastern Star.

Billy is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Bobbie Murdoch. They have two sons; Michael Murdoch (Alice) and John Murdoch (Jessica); grandchildren; Steven, Andrew, Nicholas (April), Claire, Madelaine, and Trigg and a sister, Shirley Benefield.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Pinson, 4036 Spring Street, Pinson, Alabama  35126 ( 205) 681-9611 at 2:00 P.M. with Brother David Autrey and Brother Johnny Kilgore officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Valhalla Cemetery in Midfield.
