IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bishop Alfred
'Ronnie' Burroughs
November 28, 1942 – January 22, 2026
Bishop Alfred 'Ronnie' Burroughs , a devoted servant of God, beloved husband, father, and patriarch, passed peacefully from this life on January 22, 2026, in Birmingham, Alabama, at the age of 83.
Ronnie was born on November 28, 1942, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to the Reverend Archie Leland Burroughs and Beatrice Burroughs. He spent the majority of his life in Alabama and was a longtime resident of Alabaster, where he built both a family and a legacy rooted in faith, hard work, and integrity.
For more than 50 years, Ronnie faithfully served as an ordained minister in the Church of God. His life was a living testimony of his love for the Lord Jesus Christ, and his ministry touched countless lives through preaching, counseling, prayer, and quiet acts of compassion. In addition to his calling in ministry, he was a successful entrepreneur and real estate investor, known for his wisdom, discipline, and work ethic.
Above all else, Ronnie was a family man. He was unwaveringly loyal to those he loved and was known for his steady presence, strong convictions, and gentle heart. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a trusted friend whose word could be depended upon. His faith guided every aspect of his life, and he led his family by example.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his beloved son, Jonathan Alan Burroughs; his parents, the Reverend Archie Leland Burroughs and Beatrice Burroughs; and his brothers, Flavis Burroughs and Archie Leland Burroughs Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife, Olivia Ward Burroughs of Alabaster, Alabama; his sons, Ronald Bryan Burroughs and Josef Wade Burroughs; his daughters-in-law, Una Burroughs and Beth Burroughs; and his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Lauren McGuire and her sons, Liam McGuire and Shiloh McGuire; Lindsey Cattell and her husband, Rider Cattell; and Katlyn Turnbloom and her husband, Jared Turnbloom. His family was his joy, and his legacy lives on through them.
A celebration of Ronnie's life and homegoing will be held on Monday, February 2, 2026, at Valhalla Funeral Home, located at 5317 Bessemer Super Highway, Midfield, Alabama 35228. Viewing will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be held immediately afterward at Valhalla Cemetery.
Ronnie Burroughs lived a life of faithfulness, purpose, and love. He fought the good fight, finished his course, and kept the faith. Though he will be deeply missed, his family rejoices in the promise that he is now at home with his Savior, hearing the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
