Morris, Bivin (Bibb) , age 82, died April 4, 2009 following an extended illness. Mr. Morris was a native of Vernon (Lamar County) AL and the son of Atticus and Hattie Morris. Mr. Morris joined the Army during 1944 serving in WWII in the Pacific Arena, receiving the Purple Heart Medal and several other medals and citations. He continued his military career with the U.S. Air Force until his honorable discharge in August 1969. After his retirement he moved to Midfield, AL and worked for the State of Alabama (ABC) for twenty years. He was a member of Fairfield Highlands Baptist Church in Midfield, AL. He was also a lifetime member of the Vernon Alabama Masonic Lodge 389 and the Scottish Rite Temple with service to the Aloha Temple of Honolulu, Hawaii and the Zamora Temple of Birmingham, AL. He was preceded in death by his wife Autry Sanford Morris. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Joseph Smith of Lyons, GA; Barbara and Ronnie Barnes of Stockbridge, GA; one son, Michael B. Morris of Hoover, AL and one grandson, Ronald B. Barnes of Stockbridge, GA; several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are four brothers, J.M. Morris of Vernon, AL; Duke Morris of Tuscaloosa, AL, Rick Morris of Forestdale, AL and Clay E. Morris of Hoover, AL. Funeral Services with Military honors will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home Thursday, April 9, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with burial in Valhalla Cemetery. Bro. Harry Sims and Bro. Guy Sellers officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to either Sacred Journey Hospice Foundation, 136 Peach Drive, McDonough, GA 30253 or Vernon Masonic Lodge #389, 128 7th Street NW, Vernon, AL.
