Smith, Calvin Homer, age 75, of Midfield, Alabama, passed away at his home on February 8, 2008. He was born on November 29, 1932. Mr. Smith is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Betty Ruth Legrone Smith; a son, Randy Smith (Sherri) of Lipscomb, AL and a daughter, Lynn Lanzi (Chuck) of Alabaster, AL; two grandaughters, Sandy Ackley (Greg) and Sasha Lynn Smith; two grandsons, Chuck Lanzi and Justin Lanzi; three great grandchildren, Rachel Lanzi, Matthew Lanzi and Ashlyn Ackley; a sister, Carol Jean Yocom (James) of Hueytown, AL; a brother, Claude Smith of Concord, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralvin Earl and Carmie Smith of Lipscomb, AL and a brother, R.E. Smith, Jr. Mr. Smith was a Army veteran who served during the Korean War. He retired from Chicago Bridge and Iron in Birmingham, AL after 35 years. Graveside services will be held at Valhalla Cemetery on Monday, February 11, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. Visitation will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home on Sunday, February 10, 2008 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
