IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carolyn Page
Tannehill
February 4, 1937 – February 8, 2026
As I begin to write the life story of Carolyn Page Tannehill, I find that l am honored and proud that this task has been entrusted to me.
Carolyn Page Tannehill was born on February 4th 1937, to Neal and Hullet Page in Birmingham, Alabama. She had 2 sisters, Mary Ellen Alexander and Helen Kent Tinsley, who preceded her in death; and 3 brothers, James Turner and Neal Page Jr., who preceded her in death and Sidney Page, who resides in Media, Pennsylvania.
She was educated in the Birmingham Public School system where she graduated from Parker High School in 1955. She loved sports and could often be found on the softball field after class and on the weekends. I was told that she was a formidable opponent on the baseball field.
Her faith and belief in Jesus was established early. She was a young member at St. Matthew AME Church where she learned the love of the Lord. The love of Jesus guided her throughout her life's journey, providing an anchor for her soul so that she would never stray far from the path that God had established.
Later, she met and married Calvin Fincher Tannehill, Jr. on November 11, 1956. She was blessed to have 5 children, Calvin Fincher Tannehill III, Keith Allen Tannehill, who preceded her in death, Carolyn Nadine Tannehill, Janice Renee Tannehill (Vanders) of Villa Rica, Ga and Eric Fitzgerald Tannehill.
Her life's service has been to her family. Her children and grandchildren were central to her life and she was dedicated to their success. Her grandchildren, Mandel Tannehill (Zahra), Ameenah (Jason) Bishop, Khalil Tannehill, Eric Donte Buford (Ashley), and Amber Davis, of Villa Rica, Ga, will always cherish her memory and reflect on the life lessons that she taught by example and with love. Her great grandchildren were the very heart of her being and she adored each one. Janell Tannehill, Caleb and Joshua Bishop, Kaden, Kaelyn and Zoei Tannehill, and Emani Buford have all been wrapped in her love, light and guidance. Her love and kindness were felt by a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends both near and far. She will be greatly missed.
She was a dedicated member of Trinity CME Church. Her love and service to the Lord were reflected in her service to the church and it's members. She served in the choir, on the stewardess board and was central to furnishing the meals for those special gatherings at the church.
As I write this and reflect on the many gifts that my mother possessed, I am in awe of her. I am grateful for the life that she lived and the example of faithfulness, love and dedication that she has given to God, her family and her church. Well done Mom, Jesus said, you can come on in.
