Obituary

With heavy hearts and profound respect, we announce the passing of Cecelia Roxanne Oaks, who left this world on August 14, 2024, at the age of 62. A cherished wife, loving grandmother, and devoted family member, Cecelia's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Born on October 20, 1961, in Montevallo, Alabama, Cecelia dedicated her life to her family with unwavering love and commitment. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Kevin Oaks, and a beloved grandmother to JayLynn and TJay, who were the light of her life. Cecelia's greatest joy was raising her grandchildren, filling their lives with love, faith, and the teachings of the Lord. Her nurturing spirit and spiritual guidance were cornerstones of their upbringing.
Cecelia's passions were as vibrant as her personality. Her enthusiasm for Auburn football was a testament to her spirited nature, and she embraced the excitement of the game with gusto. The Christmas season was especially dear to her heart; she delighted in ensuring that every family member found a gift under the tree, no matter how small. Her tradition of singing "Happy Birthday" to each family member was a beloved ritual that will be fondly remembered.
Cecelia was the eldest of four siblings, and family was always central to her life. She was preceded in death by her mother, Cecelia Ray, and is survived by her father, Billy F. Ray Sr., who lovingly cared for her until the end. Her siblings include Billy F. Ray Jr. and partner LouAnn Hicks, Denise Kirkland and husband Benjamin, and Tracy Cost and husband Steven Benton. Her children, Christina and Christopher, were a source of immense pride and joy for her.
Despite her aversion to doctors, hospitals, and needles—an endearing quirk that her loved ones remember with a smile—Cecelia faced life with a joyful heart and an indomitable spirit. Her legacy of kindness, generosity, and deep familial devotion will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
A graveside service to honor Cecelia's life will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Valhalla Cemetery, with arrangements entrusted to Valhalla Funeral Home.
As we bid farewell to Cecelia, we find solace in knowing she is at peace, reunited with her beloved mother. Her memory will be cherished, and her impact will be remembered with love and gratitude.
