age 83, of Vestavia and a recent resident of Pleasant Grove Nursing Home, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Sept. 30th, 2006. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was retired from United States Steel Corporation with 35 years of service. Chilton was an avid Alabama football fan and enjoyed playing golf. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, and uncle. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Virginia "Jenny" Cooper Nobles, son William "Bill" Nobles, sister Elizabeth (Pete) Johnson, brother W.G. Nobles. He is survived by: two sisters, Jean Hayes and Micki Bodiford of Fultondale, sister-in-laws: Peggy Nobles of Birmingham and Polly (Bobby) Parker of Pleasant Grove. He had many loving nieces, nephews and friends. The Graveside service will be Tues., Oct. 3, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. at Valhalla Cemetery, with visitation one hour before the service at the funeral home.
