Claud Eugene Wilson, age 94, of Midfield passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2011, at Medical West Hospital.
Mr. Wilson was a native of Jefferson County and was a member of Fairfield Highlands Baptist Church for over sixty years. He served on the Midfield City Council for thirteen years. Mr. Wilson was a veteran of World War II with the United States Army from April 1941 to July 1944 as Sergeant in Battery C, 660th Field Artillery Battalion. He received the American Defense Service Medal and also numerous commendations for his army specialty as gun commander. Mr. Wilson worked over twenty-five years with the Jefferson County Sherriff's Department.
He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-seven years, Dorothy Whiten Wilson.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda(Dave)Holt of McCalla and Claudia(Joe)Loggins of Hoover; one son, Jeffery(Wynema)Wilson of Pleasant Grove; eight grandchidlren and two great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at noon at Valhalla Cemetery with military honors. Rev. Ed Cruce and Rev. Harry Sims of the Fairfield Highlands Baptist Church will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
