Smith, Claude A., age 69, of Bessemer, AL, passed away Monday, December 29, 2008. Mr. Smith attended Trinity Life Church. He served in the Vietnam War while in the U.S. Army and he also served in the U.S. Coast Guard. Funeral Services will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with burial in Valhalla Cemetery. Pastor Mike Miller and Dr. J. Scott Moore officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 31, 2008 from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. at th efuneral home. He was preceded in death by his parents, R.E. Smith, Sr., and Carmie Smith; brothers, R. E. Smith, Jr. and Calvin Smith. He is survived by his sons, Joey Smith (Melissa) and Kevin Smith; daughter, Karen Miller (Mike); grandchildren, Amber and Lexi Miller and Alex Smith; sister, Carol Yocom.
