Obituary

Jones, Clay Bryant , age 87, of Bessemer, AL, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2010. Mr. Jones received the Bronze Medal for his service in the Pacific in World War II. He received his diploma from Bessemer High School in November 2001 during a special ceremony to honor veterans. He is retired from U.S. Steel and a member of First Christian Church in Bessemer. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Helen Kennedy ; granddaughter, Jessica Boots Carroll; grandson, Joseph Robert Kennedy; brothers, Thomas Jones and Jake Jones; sisters, Pat Laird, Dot Latham and Imogene Farrell. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Helen Dodson Jones; children, Marcia (Allen) Brufsky and Walker Bryant (Judy) Jones; son-in-law, Bob Kennedy; grandchildren, Gregory Wayne Glover, Adam Doyle (Chanda) Woodard, Shelley Grace Jones, Virginia Leigh Carroll and Jordan Bryant Jones; great grandchildren, Caitlin Woodard, Rebecca Woodard and Carson Woodard; brother, Jesse Jones; sister, Nancy Rosser and devoted family friend, Jimmy Woodard. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 Noon with funeral service beginning at 12:00 Noon in the chapel of Valhalla Funeral Home with burial in Valhalla Cemetery.
