Jones, Curtis Allen, age 77, passed away June 17, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his parents, C. D. and Stylie Jones; his sister, Dorothy Grinstead and his brother, Everett Crocker. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Dorothy "Jean" Jones and 3 children: Allen (Renee), Rebecca and David Jones; 3 grandchildren; Leslie (Greg) Allen, Eric (Valerie) and Melissa Jones; 4 great-grandchildren, Dominique, Kamron, Kayla and Karen; a sister, Pauline Thompson and several nieces and nephews and a special friend James Holifield. He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and attained the rank of Captain. He was a graduate of the University of Alabama with a Masters Degree in Metallurgical Engineering. Even though he had many accomplishments in his chosen career his happiest moments were those spent at Fairfield Highlands Baptist Church where he was Chairman of the Deacons and a Sunday School teacher for many years. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 18, at Valhalla Chapel from 5 until 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Fairfield Highlands Baptist Church, 910 9th Avenue, Midfield on Thursday, June 19, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with burial at Valhalla Cemetery. Brothers Jim McCain and Harry Sims will be officiating. Brother Gary Cardwell will offer a special eulogy. A special thanks to Doctors Bogar, Lasker, Hasson, Bivins and Modling for their compassionate care and to the nursing staff and social workers at Baptist Medical Center Princeton. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Curtis Jones Sunday School Class.
