Taft, Daniel U., was born in Tuscaloosa County to Annie Russell Taft and Daniel U. Taft, Sr. on October 5, 1922. He died on April 22nd after being ill for several months. He was in the US Marine Corps and served in the South Pacific during World War II. He worked and retired from Pullman Standard where he was the Supervisor of the Wheel and Axel Department. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobby Ann Taft and her children, Edward Hunter and Louise Jolliffe; his parents; his sister, Stella May and his brothers Jack, Rufus and Earl Taft. He is survived by Danny Taft (Janice), Steve Taft and Pat Hassell (Jimmy); his grandchildren and his great grandchildren. He was a member of North Highland Baptist Church. Visitation will be Thursday, April 24, 2008 from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Funeral Services will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home on April 23, 2008 at 11:00 am. With burial at Valhalla Cemetery.
