WALKER, DONALD LEE, went to his Heavenly home on May 31, 2009. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on April 15, 1940 to Hugh and Ella Walker. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carolyn Velotas; niece, Caron Mann; great-niece, Stevie Yerby Carlile and great-nephew, Chris Yerby. Don is survived by four sons: Darren (Claire), Kevin (Michelle), Trace (Regina) and Scott (Amy); three brothers: Noel McCann, Jack (Dot) McCann, and Jimmy (Barbara) Walker; two sisters: Ann Emerson and Marilyn Nicholson; 12 grandchildren: Luke, Jason, Dakota, Haley, Mason, McKenzie, Jessica, Ashley, Sydney, Maddie, MacKenzie and Zachery; one great-granddaughter, Breanna; along with nieces, nephews and friends. Don was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He had a great love for music and as a young adult, he played drums for the MARC IV and other bands in the Birmingham area and also out of state. Don was a big fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide and win or lose they were still his team! He was employed by the Birmingham News for 28 years. As one of the top salesmen in the advertising department, he received numerous awards. Don will be missed by all who knew him and we will cherish his memory always. Services will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 3, 2009. Family will receive visitors from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Services to follow with Bro. Donnie McDaniel officiating.
