Doris Jean Massey Knowles, age 78 of Hueytown died Tuesday, January 05, 2016 at her residence.

Mrs. Knowles was a native and life long resident of Bessemer and retired from the Bessemer Public Library. She was a member of the Black Creek Church of Christ. Mrs. Knowles loved roses, the beach, and adored her two grandsons.

Mrs. Knowles is survived by her husband, Dan Knowles; one son, Robert Daniel Knowles; one daughter, Rhonda Jean Knowles; two grandsons, William and Jacob Knowles; and one brother, Joe Massey.

Services will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel with Sammy Bynum officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 8, 2016 from 5-7 P.M. at Valhalla Funeral Home.
