Doris Ruth Nix, age 76 of Chelsea, Alabama; passed away at a local hospital on Thursday September 18, 2014.

Doris retired from the City of Bessemer after many years of service. She lived her life to take care of others. Kay Sims had the honor of my moms love and care for the past 14 years. She left a legacy for all who knew and loved her.

Doris is survived by her loving husband of 54 years; Bobby E. Nix, her daughter; Melissa Lynn Garner (Craig), her grandchildren; Holland Rickard, Cole Rickard and Lee Rickard and a host of loving family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Metropolitan Church of God in Birmingham, Alabama at 11am on Monday September 22, 2014. A visitation will be held at the church on Monday prior to service from 9am to 11am. Internment will follow at Valhalla Cemetery after the church service.
