Ms. Dorothy Lawson, 96, of Bessemer, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, September 14th, in her home surrounded by family.  Born in Bessemer, AL, Dorothy attended and graduated from Dunbar High in 1944, furthering her education to eventually become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She served as a Labor and Delivery Nurse at Baptist Princeton and Hillman Station (now UAB) for well over 30 years.

Dorothy, affectionately known as "Dot" married Claude Lawson Sr and two sons, Claude Jr and Larry "Ted" were born to this union. Later came her baby boy Gregory. Dot accepted Christ at an early age and joined Shady Grove Baptist Church where she served as a faithful member of the #2 Choir until her health began to fail.

Dot was preceded in death by parents Grant and Pearlie Wallace; siblings Lovell Wallace, Mattie Kennedy, Dora Smith, and Earlean Finner; husband Claude Sr and all 3 sons Claude Jr "Baybruh", Larry "Ted", and Gregory "Greg." She leaves to cherish her memories 1 daughter in love, Shirley, 6 grandchildren: Geoffrey, Tory, Shelisa (Jeffery), Curtis (Catina), Timothy (LaTivia), and Tiffany, 8 nieces and nephews, 18 great grandchildren, bonus grandchildren, 25 great-great grandchildren, other relatives and friends; special caregivers; Great Granddaughter Ashley Williams, Nieces Theodora Carter, Ronnie Tillman, and Kimberly Smith, and also a bonus granddaughter Sandra Russell.
