Dot "Nana" Walton, age 84 of Birmingham died Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Baptist Princeton Hospital.
She was a native of Talladega County and had been a resident of Birmingham most of her life. She was an active member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church where she was active in her Sunday School Class and Joy Circle. She retired from UAB and was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Walton; her parents, James and Grace Brown; two brothers, Allen "Red" Brown and James Brown, Jr.
Ms. Walton is survived by her daughters, Linda Shelton (Tommy) and Patti Beavers (Marlon); four grandchildren, D. W. Shelton (Julie), Tami Shelton McCarver (Todd), Jamie Cox (Jason) and Will Beavers; seven great grandchildren, T. J. McCarver, Madelyn Shelton, Taylin McCarver, Ryan Shelton, Brady Cox, and Blakely Cox; one sister, Sue Matson (Paul); numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 11:00 A. M. at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Alan Head officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. at the church on Wednesday, May 8, 2013. Sons-in-law and Grandsons and will serve as pallbearers.
