Chamberlain, Edna Vines , age 92, of Pleasant Grove, AL, entered into her heavenly home Thursday, February 26, 2009. She grew up in Alliance on the Warrior River. At the age of 19 she worked her first job in the cosmetic dept. of Pizitz for 7 years. She worked at Hayes Aircraft during WWII. After 36 years she retired from Baptist Book Store, now known as Life Way, where she helped pastors and ministers of music with needed materials. Edna was a devoted christian, loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. She loved her church very much. She was a life long member of First Baptist Church of Pleasant Grove where she worked as a Sunday School Teacher, Training Union Director, V.B.S., GA's, Acteens, W.M.U. and many other areas. She was a member of the school PTA for both of her children. One of her favorite hobbies was cooking. She loved to cook for others. Everyone came to her house for good home cooked meals. Mrs. Chamberlain was loved by everyone who knew her. She touched many hearts and never spoke an unkind word or showed a bad attitude towards anyone. Very special thank you to Dr. Damon Patterson and the Neuro Department and U.A.B Hospital, her very special nurses on the MICU floor, her very special nurses and therapist of Comfort Care Home Health. Funeral Services will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home Monday, March 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with burial in Valhalla Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 1, 2009 from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. She is preceded in death by her childhood sweetheart and loving husband of 45 years, Thomas J. Chamberlain; her parents, Manley Vines and Amanda Glover Vines of Alliance; her brothers, Carl, Hoyt, Horace, Hershal and Erskine Vines; her sisters, Velma Vines Salter and Alma Vines Dobbs. She is survived by her son, Fred T. Chamberlain and daughter-in-law, Linda of Columbus, GA; her daughter Nell C. Woods and son-in-law, Tommy Woods; her granddaughter, Meredith Woods Markham and husband Josh of Calera; her very special great granddaughter, Mikayla Shea Markham; her sister, Essie Vines Estis of Gadsden; her sister-in-law, Jewel Dean Vines; many special nieces, nephews, friends and her best friend and (granddog) Abby.
