Ella Jane Tucker Vaughn passed from this earthly life on May 17, 2016. Until the end she was surrounded by loving family: her husband of 58 years, Claude; sons Michael and David; daughter-in-law DeDe; and grandchildren Raeley, Abby, and Russ, and adopted grandson Nathan East. Her love for family and friends knew no bounds and she will be sorely missed by all those whose lives she touched.
Mrs. Vaughn was a native of Birmingham, having grown up in the Avondale and Woodlawn communities. Upon her marriage, she and Claude made their home in Midfield, where she was active in school and community activities. She was a valued employee of the Midfield Board of Education and Midfield Elementary School for over twenty years. From 1987 until the time of her death, Mrs. Vaughn resided in the Rock Mountain Lakes community.
A woman of faith, Ella Jane was a devout member of the Central Park United Methodist Church for over 50 years. At Central Park she was a tireless worker in the Children''s and Youth departments; directed the church''s drama troupe; served on the Council on Ministries and the Administrative Board; was a member of the United Methodist Women; and supported her husband in the music department. At the time of her death she was a member of Pleasant Hills United Methodist Church.
A talented artist, Ella Jane enjoyed painting and crafting in her leisure time, as well as traveling with her family. She was a homemaker in the truest sense of the word: transforming a house into a loving home for her family and friends. A loving, welcoming spirit, Ella Jane never met a stranger and treated all those she met with hospitality and respect. In recent years, her greatest joy was her grandchildren.
Other survivors include sisters Mildred Bennett and Emerson Arthur; brother Fred Tucker (Helga); sister-in-law Betty Tucker; and a host of nieces and nephews.
