Obituary

Everett Jackson (Bulldog) Garner, Jr, 83, of Bessemer passed away peacefully on April 6, 2019 at Baptist Princeton Hospital.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Everett J Garner and Mary Fort Garner. He is survived by his sons, Everett J Garner, III, Michael (Vicki) Garner, his five grandchildren, Sarah Garner Osborn(Jake), Jordan, Sean, Rachel, & Nick Garner; two great grandchildren (Caroline and Ben Osborn), and brother Larry F. Garner.Jack worked in the insurance industry, but his true passion was sports and the University of Alabama. He refereed basketball and umpired college baseball for many years. He also loved dancing and was a member of the Magic City Boppers.
Jack served in the US Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He lived his last few years at the Colonel Robert L Howard State Veteran's Home in Pell City where he developed numerous new friendships.
A special thank you to his doctors, MICU staff, and SouthernCare New Beacon Hospice for making his last days comfortable and peaceful. We also want to thank all the staff members who cared for him at the Colonel Robert L Howard State Veteran's Home in Pell City.
The funeral service will be held Thursday April 11, 2019 at Valhalla Funeral Home, 5317 Bessemer Super Hwy, Birmingham, AL. Visitation will be at 11:00 followed by a chapel service at 12:00.
