BASS, FAYE BURROUGHS. With thanksgiving and sorrow, the Bass family announces the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Faye Burroughs Bass.  She died the evening of Thursday, August 29, 2019 surrounded by her family.  Born on January 29, 1931 in rural Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, Faye was the youngest of five children of Ida Mae Lindsey Burroughs and Collie Burroughs.  She spent her early years in Romulus, Buhl, and Coker, Alabama before moving with her parents to Bessemer, Alabama in the 1940s.  A few months before her graduation from Bessemer High School in 1949, she married Samuel Jonathan Bass, Jr.  Sam and Faye were married 55 years before Sam's death in 2005.  For the last fifteen years, she lived in Vestavia Hills and attended Green Valley Baptist Church.  Her sweet spirit, generous soul, and abiding faith will be missed by all who knew and loved her.  Faye was faithful to pray every day for each of her family members and all of her friends.  She is survived by two sons, Cary Alan Bass (Kay) of Port Orchard, Washington and Dr. Samuel Jonathan Bass III (Jennifer) of Vestavia Hills. She was a loving grandmother of five, Joshua David, Sarah Lynn, Kathleen Elizabeth, Caroline Grace, and Nathaniel Jonathan; and great grandmother to Lillian and Nolan.  We will have a celebration of the life of Faye Bass on Sunday, September 1, 2019 at 2 p.m. in the Community Life Center at Shades Mountain Baptist Church located at 2017 Columbiana Road, Vestavia Hills, Alabama. From 2:30-4 p.m. the family will receive visitors.  In lieu of flowers, send donations to Green Valley Baptist Church, Hoover, Alabama.
