Obituary

Faye was a loving soul who shared her life with many relatives
and friends. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama and
attended Ensley High School. Faye worked at Clark Lift of
Alabama retiring in 2000. She was a long-time member of
Valleydale Baptist Church. She lived in Central Park Ensley area
and later Helena, Alabama through much of her life. She was
married to U.S. Navy WWII Veteran Ulysses Grant Carter for 52
years. She was preceded in death by Grant, their two sons
Terry and Kyle, her parents Florence and Middleton Lazenby,
sisters Eleanor Ellis and Thelma Echols, brothers Louis, Martin
Luther (ML) and Gordon Lazenby. She is survived by many
nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great,
great nieces and nephews. Faye is a direct descendant of
Revolutionary War patriots from a founding Colonial Maryland
family. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 20,
2023 at 10:00 am at Valhalla Cemetery, 829 Wilkes Rd.
Birmingham, AL. The family wishes to thank Enhabit Hospice
Services and all those who helped Faye in the last several
months of her life. In lieu of flowers the family requests any
donations be made to The Blue Star Salute Foundations
Veterans Assistance Fund. bluestarsalute.org, or the charity of
your choice.
