IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Faye M.
Christian
November 13, 1932 – November 19, 2025
F
aye Margaret Bishop Christian
passed away on November 19, 2025 at 93 years of age while living in Lafayette, IN. She was born in Birmingham, AL in 1932 to Gorden F. Bishop and Margaret Connally Bishop. She graduated from Hueytown High School and after obtaining an Associate's degree in business she worked at Joe Money and then Woodward Iron Company where she met and later married the love of her life, W. Carl Christian. She thereafter devoted herself to managing a busy home while raising 4 sons and serving many others in Hueytown, AL. In 2007 Faye and Carl moved to Lafayette, IN where they spent the remainder of their days having a highly positive influence on the lives of many.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Carl; sons, W. Carl Christian Jr (Beverlea, dec.), Cory V. Christian (Karen); brothers, Bill Bishop (Gayle), Barry Bishop, Michael Bishop, Richard Bishop; and sister, Diane Smith (Bob).
She is survived by sons John (Judy), Robert (James Clark); sisters, Katherine Wall (Byron, dec.), and Karmel Crandall (Richard); 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Of note, in Hueytown and Lafayette, Faye and Carl were endeared to many younger friends who considered them as adoptive grandparents or were known affectionately as "Aunt Faye" and "Uncle Carl".
At each stage of life, from youth to aged, either Faye or her family members faced significant health problems. She faced her own illnesses with determination and independence and devoted herself selflessly to the care of others with resilience and inner strength. In addition to a full life devoted to serving others, a remarkably consistent accolade for Faye (even in advanced stages of dementia) was that she lifted people up by being one of the kindest and most gracious people that they knew.
In lieu of flowers, please honor her memory by sharing a deliberate act of kindness with someone needing a lift. There are many.
