McLaughlin, Frances Elizabeth Dinsmore, age 101, of Birmingham, AL, went to be with her Lord on December 4, 2013. She was born in Birmingham on May 6, 1912. She graduated from Central High School in Decatur, AL, attended Montevallo College, and later graduated from Birmingham-Southern College (magna cum laude), where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
For a number of years, she was a librarian at Birmingham-Southern College, at UAB, and at the Baptist Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of Ensley Highlands Presbyterian Church (Chapel in the Pines Presbyterian).
Preceding her in death were her parents, Dr. William M. and Emmie Abercrombie Dinsmore her brothers, Burleson, John, Lloyd, and Jack Dinsmore; and her beloved husband, William T. McLaughlin.
She is survived by her daughter, Anne Frances McLaughlin (Miller); grandchildren, Connie Reynolds, Don Miller, (Marianne), Bill (Miller) McLaughlin (Renee), and Mark Miller (Linda); 10 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Among her many interests were gardening, doing needlework, reading, playing bridge, and enjoying loving relationships with family, friends, and neighbors. She will be missed by all.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Mount Royal Towers for their loving care and also her neighbors Randy and Pam Hagood for all the help they gave her over the years.
A private interment service will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery. A public memorial service will be held at Mount Royal Towers in the Town Hall on ground floor on Tuesday, December 10, at 2:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Home for Children or to the charity of choice.
