Gayle Juanita Myers Gowdy
February 21, 1935 - October 30, 2015

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the death of Gayle Myers Gowdy, age 80 on 10/30/2015.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Juanita Myers.

Gayle is survived by her husband of 60 years, Randall Gowdy; daughter, Andrea Sledge (Henry); beloved grandson, Jack Sledge; three sisters, Myra Simpson (Jim), Jeanine Euler and Melanie Crane (Charles) and sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

To know Gayle was to love her. Like her mother, Juanita, Gayle was the personification of a Christian lady. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Pleasant Grove where she sang in the church choir for many years and taught high school girls Sunday School Class. Gayle was known as a prayer warrior and loved to pray for people. She also had a wonderful ministry with the many cards she sent. Gayle retired from Bell South Telephone Company in 1991 after 32 years of service.

Her celebration of life service will be held at First Baptist Church of Pleasant Grove on Monday, 11/2/2015 at 12:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Dr. Daven Watkins, Rev. Harold Newberry, and Rev. Wes Haley will be officiating.
