Gena Ruth Ivey, age 87, of Bessemer died Thursday, January 9, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents, Onzelle Elva Merrell Elliott and James Henry Elliott and a sister, Lovaine Cummins.

She was a native and life long resident of Jefferson County and a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church .

Ms. Ivey will be greatly missed by her niece, Beverly Martin and nephew, James Henry Cummins (Mary) and ten great nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Aloysius Catholic Church with Father Patrick Cullen officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 14, 2014 from 5:30 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. at Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel followed by a rosary at 6:30 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Aloysius Catholic Church.
