74, went to be with the Lord at 11:51 p.m. on January 31, 2010. He was survived by his wife of 52 years, Anna Faye Wilson, and many other beloved family members. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Gene Wilson, his mother, father, mother-in-law, father-in-law and various other family members. Gene was a member of First Baptist Church of Shannon. He attended Brookside Elementary School and Phillips High School. He then joined the Army at the age of 18, served our country in the Korean War, and then later served in the Air Force Reserve. Following his discharge from the Army, Gene worked in construction, sheetrock and the acoustical ceiling field. He was a Partner and Vice President of Dixie Acoustical Contractors from 1967 until his retirement in 1999. Gene?s hobbies included boating, antique cars, [cutting down trees] and work of any kind ? on the job or off, he was always working on something.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 2 p.m. Bro. Tommy Hannah and Bro. Don Maddox will be officiating.
