Graveside services for George L. Hurst, age 82, of Vestavia, AL, will be Thursday, December 17, 2020, 12:00 PM at Valhalla Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Valhalla Funeral Home.

Mr. Hurst passed away on December 13, 2020.

Survivors include his step son; Johnny Fowler (Denise), grandchildren; Jonathan Fowler (Meagan), Kaylane Alger (Chip), Kendall Crowley (Trey), Heather Lynch, great grandchildren; Caroline Fowler, Wesley Fowler, Wyatt Fowler, Iyla Crowley, Judson Crowley, Trace Alger, brother, Donald Hurst, sisters; Linda Morgan and Nancy Rainaldi.

Mr. Hurst was preceded in death by his parents; Little G and Minnie M Hurst, and his wife, Clara Hatch.

Mr. Hurst was a veteran of the US Air Force. He was retired from Alabama Power with 35 years of service. Mr. Hurst also worked for Sperry Rand on the Nasa Apollo Project and received the Apollo Achievement award on July 20, 1969.
