Rev. George Murray was born on October 10, 1926 in Midway - Barbour County.

On January 2, 2015 he was summoned by the great master teacher to come home and take his rest.

He confessed Christ at an early age where he joined the New Shady Grove Baptist Church. During his pilgrimage there he served on the Board of Deacons and was called by God to preach the Word. After years of serving, he later became the pastor of the New Shady Grove Baptist Church serving 42 years as their leader.

He was employed at Golden Flake Snack Food, Inc. and retired with 51 years of service.

He was a graduate of Parker High School and earned a bachelor of Theology from the Birmingham Baptist Bible College.

To cherish his memory are his children: Regina Moore, Alma Austin, Cynthia Thomas, and Patrick Thomas: grandchildren, Guideo Moore (Melissa), Thessius Moore and six great grandchildren, and several nieces , nephews, other relatives and friends.
