Geraldine (Gerri) L. Ennis, age 90, passed away peacefully at her home in McCalla, AL on January 10, 2026. She was born and raised in Bessemer, AL and was a lifelong member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist. Gerri was a long-time employee of Jefferson County. She was a smart, hardworking employee, who took advantage of the challenges and opportunities presented to her throughout her career. She gradually rose through the ranks to become the Supervisor of Data Processing, responsible for the distribution of tax notices in Jefferson County.

She enjoyed traveling, reading, Alabama football, birds, and spending time with her family and friends.  She was beloved by her friends and family, frequently sending cards and gifts to them.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rayford (Ray) Ennis; her parents, Louis T. and Constance Lindquist; and her sisters Margaret Schultz and Eva Joy Reeves.

She is survived by her cousin Charlotte (Joel) Kelly, her nieces and nephews Richard (Regina) Reeves, Carol (David) Tibbs, Peggy Reeves, Barbara Fitzgerald, Stan (Rhonda) Schultz, Connie (Hans) Danke, Norman (Sheila) Schultz, and many loving great nieces and great nephews. Special thanks to close friends Louis Kelly and Kim Pierce who stayed in close contact and supported her for several years.

Charitable donations may be made in Gerri's memory to St. Jude's or Shriners Children's Hospital.
