Gladys Iris Colwell

Gladys Iris Colwell, age 79 of Birmingham died Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Birmingham Nursing and Rehab.

Mrs. Colwell was a native and life long resident of Jefferson County where she was a homemaker and a member of South Roebuck Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Meade Goode; mother, Vera Drake; a sister, Merelene Keeton; a brother, Donald Goode; a son, Ricky Holcomb; and a daughter, Sandra McClendon.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Jones (David); daughter-in-law, Martha Holcomb; four brothers and one sister; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Services will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Valhalla Chapel with Rev. Earl Goode officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Valhalla Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Birmingham Nursing and Rehab, Attn: Mattie Banks, 1000 Dugan Avenue, Birmingham, AL 35214 for the benefit of her friends/residents of Birmingham Nursing and Rehab.
