Cowley, Guy W. "Bubba", age 79, of Fairfield, AL, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2009. He was a member of Fairfield Highlands Baptist Church. He was retired from U.S. Steel serving from October 15, 1948 until March 31, 1993. He served in both the United States Army as a Medical Technician and in the United States Marine Corps. He was a long time member of the American Legion and the Elks Lodge. Funeral Services will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with burial in Valhalla Cemetery. Bro. Buddy Majors officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 27, 2009 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Lee Boothe Cowley; his parents, Hugh S. and Carrie P. Cowley; his brother, Hugh, Jr.; and his sister, Edna Earl Bowen. He is survived by his sister, Ruth (Derl) McCombs of Crane Hill; his daughters, Elizabeth Diane (Dr. David) Chapman of Florence, SC, Carol Denise St. Charles of Huntsville, Carrie Cowley (John) Armstrong of McCalla, Jean (James) Abel of Pleasant Grove, Benny (Marsha) Franklin of Bessemer, Richard (Marcia) Franklin of Hueytown and Earnie (Brenda) Franklin, Jr., of St. Augustine, FL; his grandchildren, Nicole St. Charles and "His Little Buddy" Joshua Guy Armstrong of McCalla; eleven other special grandchildren and sixteen special great grandchildren. This wonderful Father, PawPaw and friend will be loved and missed by so many.
