PHILLIPS, JR., HASSELL O. age 80, of Birmingham passed away September 19, 2010. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Joyce Phillips and two sons, Carry A. Phillips and Mark Hardin Phillips, He is survived by his wife, Mattie Smith Phillips, one son, Robert (Suzanne) Phillips, two daughters, Valerie (Paul) Chramer, and Carol Dean Smith, two brothers, Robert (Jackie) Phillips and James (Rosalee) Phillips, and one sister, Mary Jane Herring. He also leaves five grandchildren; Kimberly Phillips, Laura, Elisabeth, and Jonathan Chramer, and Patrick Smith. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday September 22, 2010 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Valhalla Funeral Home with burial to follow in Valhalla Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
