IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Herbert Meigs
Chapman
July 29, 1944 – December 5, 2018
Rev. Herbert Meigs Chapman
DOB 7/29/1944 - DOD 12/5/2018
Herbert went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, after a battle with Cancer and Pneumonia. He was preceded in death by his parents, B. O. Chapman and Emma Henderson Chapman; his brother, Willard B. Chapman; and his sister, Linda Chapman Pennington.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Ann Downs Chapman; son, David Chapman (Penni), McCalla, AL; daughter, Teresa (Terri) Chapman Gunter (Rick), Trussville, AL; son, Randall (Randy) Chapman (Linda), Bessemer, AL. Grandchildren; Brad Chapman, Michael Chapman, Ian Carter, Zoe Carter, Chloe Chapman, Aidan Chapman, Blake Gunter, Paige Gunter, and Evan Gunter. 2 great granddaughters; Emily Chapman and Addison Chapman and a host of other family and friends.
Herbert loved his Lord and Savior and exhibited that love through the preaching of the gospel for 40 plus years in Jefferson, Bibb, and Tuscaloosa counties. Not only did he preach the word of God but he lived it daily.
He was the kindest, most caring person ever who spent most of his free time helping others with anything they needed done, day or night, and never complained. He had a passion and capability for fixing anything and passed that along to his children. He never lost that desire even at his sickest times when he thought his hospital room needed renovation, and the equipment needed repair.
He had an amazing sense of humor and always had a smile on his face, no matter the situation….He was an avid Auburn fan but willingly accepted an Alabama fan into his family…just the kind of guy he was!!!!
He loved taking care of his family and especially his wife whom until recently never had to pump her own gas.
His prized earthly possessions were his truck and his red Mustang, his mountain of tools and his little dog, Brandi.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends but we know he is singing with the angels in Heaven.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Valhalla Chapel with Rev. Wayne Marler officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 10, 2018 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Valhalla Funeral Home.
