Mr. Herbert "Sonny" Cox, age 88, of Bessemer, Alabama passed away on October 5, 2020.

Mr.  Cox was a very devoted Christian. He was a charter member of Ezra Baptist Church. Mr. Cox enjoyed camping and was a Jack Of All Trades.

He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Mr. Cox was preceded in death by his parents,  Levi and Zelotes Cox; wife, Jane Simpson Cox; daughter, Renee Harris; sisters, Lucille Stumer, Nadine  Foxworth and a brother, Tommy Cox.

Survivors include his a sister, Viney Sue Adams; five daughters, Christyne McGlawn, Janice Rhoads, Jeannie Cox, Carol McCool, Terri Cox; one son, Mike Cox Sr.; 10 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Graveside service will be Thursday, October 8, 2020, 2:30 PM at Valhalla Cemetery with Bro. Richard Bryant officiating.  The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM at Valhalla Funeral Home.
