Conley,Jr. James Lawrence, age 82, a native of Birmingham, passed away on October 28, 2010.
Mr Conley attended Ensley High School and was a graduate of The University of Alabama. He was a proud Eagle Scout and continued to support the organization, he was also a member of Toastmasters International. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve and retired as a Lt. Commander. He retired from the federal government having worked in logistics with the Department of Defense.
He is survived by his children: Suzanne Anderson of Charleston,SC, Cynthia Conley,of Alexandria,VA, David Conley of Manassas,VA, James Conley, of Hoover,AL, former wife and mother of of his children, Barbara Conley. He also leaves his grandchildren, Tracey Colclough of Chesapeake,VA,David VanDeventer of Manassas,VA, Alissa Conley of Manassas, VA, and one great grandson, Shamus ColClough of Chesapeake,VA as well as his longtime companion and caregiver, Peggy Horton of Irondale, AL.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, November 1, 2010 at 3:00 pm in Valhalla Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at the funeral home.
