Martin, James M., age 75, of Bessemer, passed away on December 26, 2008. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 21 years of service. He retired from UAB Hospital after 24 years of service. He was an avid golfer. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and he will be greatly missed. Funeral Services will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, December 29, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. with entombment in Valhalla Cemetery. Rev. Terry Smith and Pastor Greg Lunceford officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday from 12 until 1 p.m. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Jean C. Martin; son, Stephen A. Martin (Debbie); daughters, Sandra M. Deerman (Joe) and Katherine M. Sudduth (Steve); grandchildren, Christy H. Banks (B.J.) and Jonathan Hagood; great grandchildren, Austin Armstrong and Brayden Banks; one sister, Mary Brown. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Childrens Hospital in Birmingham.
