Funeral service will be at 12:30 on Friday August 2, 2024, at Valhalla Chapel for James Edward "Jimmy" Maxwell, age 89. Jimmy passed on Wednesday July 24, 2024. Bro. Chris Tortorice will officiate. Burial will follow at the adjoining cemetery. Valhalla Funeral Home will direct services.
Jimmy was a hard worker and did well at any field he chose. He had driven a truck for many years. He loved to cook so he had managed, owned, and operated several restaurants. He had retired from Buffalo Rock.
Jimmy loved traveling and RVing with friends and family and had traveled across the United States and into parts of Canada. He enjoyed cooking for others and cooked many dinners for his church in Center Point. He will be remembered fondly for gifting his homemade Lasagna, that took days to prepare, to family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife Betty Maxwell, and parents Jack and Gail Maxwell.
Jimmy was a father figure to Betty's children Steven Barber (Joy), Cathy Summerall (Jimmy), and Georgia Hubert (Lloyd); and their six children and several grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister and caretaker Joan Burchfield, niece Johna Coffee, and nephew Max Burchfield, as well as several great nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM until the hour of service on Friday at the funeral home.
