Janet B. Smith, age 72, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Friday, March 11, 2022, in Chelsea, AL.  Janet was born on July 2, 1949 in Birmingham, AL to James Robert Butler and Julia Elizabeth Butler.

She was a graduate of Jones Valley High School located in Birmingham, AL. Janet was best known for her sense of humor, loving nature, kindness towards others and for the love she had for her children, grandchildren and her entire family. She also had the upmost love for her friends and cherished her friendships dearly. Most importantly, she had a love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, like no other.

Janet is survived by her daughters Kelli L. Wilkins and Keisha S. Glass, her 7 grandchildren (Peyton Wilkins, Julia Wilkins, Madison Glass, Grace Wilkins, Grant Wilkins, Alaina Glass and Austin Glass), and her brother Ronald Butler.

Janet is preceded in death by her father, James Robert Butler, her mother, Julia Elizabeth Butler, and her sister, Joan McBrayer.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 from 12:00-1:00 with a graveside service to immediately follow.
