Kernan, Jean Brackner, age 87 of McCalla, AL died Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.

Mrs. Kernan was a native of Tuscaloosa County and a resident of Jefferson County most of her life where she was retired from the City of Birmingham after twenty years of service. She was a member of the Fairfield Elks Emblem Club, the Ladies Auxillary of the VFW and was a member of the Baptist Faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Kernan.

She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Cornelius (Jack) and Judy Trimm; grandchildren, Trey Thornton (Lisa) and Jay Trimm (Autumn); five great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one brother, Charles Brackner (Wilma); two half brothers, J. E. Brackner (Betty Sue) and Jimmy Brackner (Flossie); numerous nieces and nephews; three step children, Jimmy Kernan, Margaret Kernan, and Mike Kernan (Beverly).

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 12 Noon at Valhalla Cemetery with the Rev. Randolph Kesler officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the graveside service at the funeral home.
