Jerral Snowden Moss

October 24, 1938 – December 2, 2019

Jerral Snowden Moss, age 81 of Birmingham, AL went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 2, 2019.

He was faithful member of McElwain Baptist Church for 49 years and lived his church family.

He grew up in Gadsden, Al and graduated from Gadsden High School.  He moved to Birmingham in 1962.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Mary Moss from Gadsden, AL; his brother, Jack Howard Moss of Griffin, GA and his son, Glenn Moss of Birmingham, AL.

He actively served in the US Marine Corps for 3 years. He managed to exceled in small arms repair weapons and was chosen to work at the Marine Corps Museum in Quantico, Virginia.

He worked for Liberty National Insurance Service for 2 years before attending Jefferson State Community College in the area of Fire Science. He also worked for 30 years as a firefighter for the Birmingham Fire and Department before retiring in 1998.

As a hobby he worked on small engines and repaired lawnmowers for people in the area for a number of years. Another hobby he had was fishing and hunting, although his love for animal prevented him from actually doing anything more than gazing at the scenery and the beauty that GOD created for his precious creatures.

Jerral had a big heart, always helping others in need.

Jerral is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Linda Bryan Moss; daughter, Andrea Suzanne Thomas (David) of Huntsville, AL and grandsons, Lee Ashby Thomas and Andrew Reeves Thomas of Huntsville, AL; brother, Danny Bert Moss (Jennifer) of Gadsden, AL; nephew, Shannon Moss and his sons, Jackson and Wheeler; niece, Memory Moss (David Sol) and a number of other cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will received friends at McElwain Baptist Church on Thursday, December 5, 20149 from 1030 am until 1130 am. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1130 am.
